Cordless or corded: which table lamp suits your room?
Choose a cordless table lamp when you want to move the light between places without keeping a cable connected during use. Choose a corded lamp when it will stay near a socket and you prefer not to recharge it. Neither power type, by itself, tells you how bright the lamp is.
Compare the everyday trade-offs
| Question | Cordless lamp | Corded lamp |
|---|---|---|
| Where will it sit? | Flexible placement while charged | Within reach of a suitable power socket |
| What needs planning? | A safe, stable charging spot and a recharge routine | Cable route, switch access and plug compatibility |
| How long can it run? | Depends on the model, brightness and battery condition | Does not rely on a charged battery; follow the model’s use instructions |
| Can it be used outdoors? | Only if its rating and instructions permit it | Only if its rating and instructions permit it |
For a coffee table or changing room layout
A rechargeable lamp can move from a shelf to a coffee setting without a trailing power lead during use. LUMENA SPACE S Mute ROOF supports direct USB-C charging or a dedicated cradle connected to power. Its supplier quotes approximately 8–40 hours depending on brightness; this is not a promise of 40 hours at the brightest setting.
For a permanent bedside or shelf setting
A corded design can suit a fixed position. WHAUD NAMU uses 220–240V mains power, a 2.4 m cable and an in-line switch. It is a corded glass lamp, not a rechargeable model. Confirm the supplied plug configuration with Haubon before ordering; the voltage specification alone does not confirm the plug supplied.
Charging: check more than the connector
USB-C describes a connector; it does not make every charger suitable. Follow the input rating and instructions for the exact model. ILKW SNOWMAN12, for example, specifies a standard 5V charger and does not support fast charging. Check whether the adapter is included rather than assuming that an included cable means an included charger.
Battery capacity is not a runtime comparison
A larger mAh number does not prove that one lamp will last longer than another. Light output, settings and electrical design affect consumption. Compare runtime at equivalent brightness only when manufacturers provide that information. Haubon has not independently tested these models side by side.
Make the final choice
First decide where the light will sit. Then check dimensions, light settings and power requirements on the exact product page. Use our bedside size guide to check fit, browse cordless lamps, or see all lighting for both power types.
Prepared by Haubon from the linked product specifications, checked 25 September 2026. Supplier runtime figures vary with conditions; no independent comparative runtime test is claimed.
